Providing Life’s Necessities
Year-round help for families in dire need — housing, scholarships, emergencies.
Since our inception in 2005, aside from giving food and gifts during the holiday season, we realize that the Holiday season is not the only time of the year that the needy need help. Since our inception, we have maintained a reserve that has allowed us to serve those in dire need throughout the year.
These one-off situations range from immediate housing needs, to scholarships for deserving individuals to obtain post-high school education, whether it be at a major university or even an Emergency Medical Technician or another trade school, to allow those individuals to help break the cycle of poverty.
Most recently we have helped a family with a 13-year old autistic child who is blind and has terminal brain cancer and unable to care for themselves to a month’s supply of food and disposable underwear. We also have made three donations to other organizations that help needy children in Sarasota, with a $100,000 donation to Second Heart Homes through a special donation by a member, another $10,000 to Safe Children Coalition for their capital campaign to fund their new dormitory building for endangered children (where no admin fees can be taken from it), and even funded over $7000 in storm damage to our families. Even though Sarasota is an affluent community, the need knows no season and for many, never ends.
